This episode was spicy! I thought this series would be a slow burner but in this episode the storyline sped up, which was nice to see more dynamism for the series. This episode saw Moishe (Jeff Wilbusch) break into Etsy’s mothers house and find out she has an audition at the music school. Etsy (Shira Haas) goes to a club with her friends and ends up getting very close with Robert (Aaron Altaras) which Moishe saw a filmed. I was shocked that we are three episodes in and Moishe has already found Etsy. I’m looking forward to how it progresses from here.

What We Learnt:
Etsy is still staying, washing and living in the music school
Etsy decides to still go through with the scholarship audition
Etsy’s scholarship letter is posted to her mother’s house, which confirmed Etsy is in Berlin
Etsy goes to a hospital and it is confirmed that she is pregnant
Moishe and Yanky (Amit Rahav) go to visit Jewish graves and a strip club where Moishe tries to get Yanky laid by a sex worker
Yanky goes to Leah’s (Alex Reid) place of work to see if she knows where Etsy is
Meanwhile Moishe breaks into Leah’s house and finds Etsy’s scholarship audition letter
Etsy meets her friends again and they go clubbing
Moishe follows her outside the music hall to the club
Etsy and Robert get very close and end up having sex
FLASHBACKS: Etsy was a virgin when she married Yanky and it hurt whilst having sex
Etsy is confronted by Yanky’s mother who calls her a disgrace because she can’t have sex with her husband and get pregnant
Etsy finally lets Yanky have sex with her despite it hurting
It was interesting to see Etsy’s marital problems manifest and it was obvious by the pressure to have sex and children that she wanted to leave. Yanky having sex with her even though it hurt and then saying it was amazing whilst she was crying was painful to watch, but realistic. I am happy to see that the storyline of her pregnancy, relationships with friends and being found in Berlin is moving quickly as it makes the episodes more watchable and binge worthy. I’m understanding and getting to know Etsy’s character more each episode which is so nice, and her vulnerability is so honest and painful, a wonderful performance by Shira Haas.
Available to stream now on Netflix.
