I was content with this ending and would be excited for another series. I was apprehensive about this series at first and think that Netflix should have realised the series all in one go and the story was hard to keep up with as a weekly release! I thought the ending and seeing more of Melanie’s (Jennifer Connelly) character and backstory was great!
What We Learnt:
Melanie handed over the train to Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) who must now keep the peace
Not much more came of Zarah’s (Sheila Vand) pregnancy apart from Layton discussing if it will be a boy or a girl
The engine start hearing radio signal outside of the train
Melanie visits Miss Audrey (Lena Hall) to discuss Melanie’s past, where she envisions her daughter Alex and says she is sorry for leaving her
There is another train, the prototype they made out there and it is Alex who is commanding it
Layton tries to restore order
Melanie goes outside of the train to stop Wilford from boarding their train, but when the brakes are put on she goes flying into the snow
Wilford’s train clamps onto Snowpiercer
The tail and other less privileged passengers are raiding the train, taking food and shagging in first class beds
Alex does say that Mr Wilford is on board which Ruth (Alison Wright) is ecstatic about

The series ends with us open mouth, gob-smacked as we realise Wilford is alive and Melanie’s daughter has been commanding another train this entire time! SHOCK. I didn’t see this coming, I knew Wilford might make an appearance somewhere down the line but not this so I am happy with the ending. I do feel thought that they could have just made ep 9 a little longer and crushed the series in 8 eps and it would have been less boring and more concise.
