(May Contain Spoilers)
Josie (Katie McGuinness) is taken by Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) to be questioned over the disappearance of Layton (Daveed Diggs), but after she doesn’t reveal any news, she is killed. Layton is trying to head a revolution from behind the curtain in 3rd and getting other random people involved, so we shall see if that pays off.
What We Learnt:
Layton and Josie wake up in their little secret room
Miles (Jaylin Fletcher) is recruited to be the next engineer apprentice by Melanie
Josie makes Miles sick so that she can get him into see the nurse and tell him something - we didn’t hear what she said
3rd are starting to rebel
1st class, specifically the Folger family want Ruth (Alison Wright) to become the manager of the train and to kick Melanie out
Layton is taken to Miss Audrey (Lena Hall) where she gathers her most trusted people
Melanie goes to Ruth’s place to search for Layton and threatens Ruth’s baby (she pregnant)
Ruth then rats out Josie in the tail
Melanie takes Ruth to be questioned and burns her fingers off with a hose linked up to the cold outside
Layton reveals the secret, presumably about Melanie being Mr Wilford but the episode ends here
Whilst Melanie is being sick in a toilet over doing this tortue, Bess (Mickey Sumner) comes in and tries to help Ruth, but she asks for her whole hand to be frozen
Melanie returns and Ruth manages to break free from the chains by removing her own hand
Melanie manages to escape and Ruth dies in the room which has a crack in so the ice freezes the room over
Ruth tries to tell Melanie about how 1st class are trying to get her out, but Melanie just bites back so Ruth doesn’t say anything more
Bess tells Layton about Josie’s death
Layton brings LJ (Annalise Basso) to Miss Audrey’s and says he will reveal to her the biggest secret on the train

I was a bit confused by the ending, because in the trail episode it made it look like LJ knew that Melanie was Mr Wilford so this wouldn’t be a surprise. Unless, Layton is going to tell her about the revolution which is starting in 3rd and the tail, looking to take over the train. I was a bit upset that Josie died, but felt like something like this needed to happen to keep the series interesting. Overall not a bad episode, but right now I don’t feel the need for the 20 episodes and want them to get on with it.
