I thought this episode was pretty boring actually, there wasn’t much going on apart from the train almost derailing, Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) coming back to life after escaping the drawers and his finding Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) and trying to kill her. The other highlight moment was that Layton and Josie (Katie McGuinness) found out that there are names on a ‘black list’ and there are loads of carts full of drawers and they think it is to kill people off, however Melanie says to Layton that it is to preserve specific people on the train if something fails…Do we believe her?
What We Learnt:
The train starts leaking acid and starts to malfunction the train
Layton comes back to life after being in the drawers and Zarah (Sheila Vand) is helping him recover
After the trial, 3rd coach have decided to go on strike as a protest
Melanie shakes things up in 3rd with some police brutality and scare tactics
Josie comes to rescue Layton from Zarah and takes him to a nurse
The nurse starts to look over him when it is revealed that there is a blacklist and coaches full of drawers and all their names are on it
Layton reveals to Josie that Melanie is Mr. Wilford and it is all a lie, but she palms it off for now
Layton grabs a knife and uses the chip to find Melanie and hold the knife to her throat but as the train derails more he lets her go to fix the train
Layton and Ruth have sex
The woman who had her arm frozen off in the tail to save her daughter finally died
The tail manage to project the outside onto a bed sheet inside and see the outside for the first time
Melanie goes underneath the train whilst it is moving and manages to get the train back and running, a close call and everyone is safe
Melanie poaches Miles (Jaylin Fletcher) as he is intelligent and the episode finishes as she asks him for a favour

I thought this episode was quite boring and whilst there were a few plot beats that happened I just felt that the series started strong and is just going downhill. Melanie’s character arch is starting to become weaker and I don’t see much progression happening in the story. It’s safe to say I’m a bit worried with the direction of this series.
Stream the series so far on Netflix.
