I was actually a little disappointment by this episode, I wasn’t very engaged, and something fell flat, and I think that’s because Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) has less of a feature (being confined to the draws in the last episode). I think that he is the person who carries the show and makes it interesting and whilst I love Jennifer Connelly, I think that her performance this episode lacked presence. The episode mostly focused on the trial of LJ Folger (Annalise Basso) for killing the two male passengers in third class.
What We Learnt:
Layton is still asleep in the draw and is dreaming about the cannibalism that happened in the tail
Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) struggles to keep her being Mr Wilford a secret and is tired
A trial takes place for LJ as she manipulated her bodyguard into killing two men
Lilah Folger (Kerry O’Malley) reveals that LJ pulled her dads eye out of his head with a fork and he held onto her and she said she was sorry and the juice running down his face
Equally a weird moment where LJ asks to take the eyeball out of her fathers head and suck it! GROSS
Josie (Katie McGuinness) breaks out from the tail again and finds Layton in the draws as she suspected and Bess (Mickey Sumner) finds her and helps recover him
Josie takes his body to Zarah (Shelia Vand) – his ex – for her to hide him because she had to go back to the tail
Melanie decides that the trail’s jury will be made up of first class only
Miss Audrey (Lena Hall) insists that Melanie take one person from each class to make up the jury so it is fair and Melanie agrees, which outrages 1st class
The trail happens and crocodile tears from LJ, but she reveals that one of the victims was an informant to Mr Wilford and looks at Melanie as if to say I know it’s you
LJ is convicted of all counts of murder, however because of LJ’s knowledge, Melanie sends a fake Mr Wilford message to say that considering her age she will be let off – THE TRAIL WAS FOR NOTHING
LJ and Melanie share a conversation saying that they will have each-others back
Layton wakes up in Zarah’s arms

I think as the trail ended up having no purpose it made the whole episode feel redundant, and as I said earlier the absence of Layton’s character brought the energy down. I will say that this episode might be laying the foundation to an interesting few episodes to come as Layton wakes, he will go on the attack and with the trial being redundant third class might revoke and Layton will be heading it alone with the tail.
Stream the series so far on Netflix.
