Mysterious and intriguing. The first episode sets up nicely the premise of the not-so stolen baby Hanna (Esme Creed-Miles) who grows up wishing to see more of the world, whilst her ex CIA dad, Erik Heller, (Joel Kinnaman) is trying to protect her. A cat-and-mouse storyline as the CIA are after Hanna and Erik, but it’s hasn’t been revealed why yet, apart from stealing Hanna back. All we know is that Hanna is special, and she was taken back presumably by Erik, although how do we know she actually IS her dad? The tone and cinematography gave me Vikings meets The Bridge, scandinoir vibes. I’m looking forward to seeing what this spy film-turned-series has to offer.
What We Learnt:
Erik stole baby from locked down hospital
Went on the run with mum, Johanna (Joanna Kulig) and baby, got followed by Marissa (Mireille Enos)
Johanna died and Erik ran off with the Hanna into the forest
15 years later and Hanna and Erik live in a cave in the forrest
Erik trains Hanna, running doing situps, climbing trees etc.
Hanna wants to go beyond the woods, where she is not allowed to go, but disobeys Erik and does
Hanna meets Benoit (Giles Norris-Tari) and he takes her to a satellite and tries to kiss her
The couple get caught but Hanna runs off to tell Erik before they caught her
The report of the satalittle dish insident is delivered to a Marissa CIA agent who reveals Erik was an Ex Officer
The CIA go and try to find Hanna and Erik in the forrest
Hanna and Erik hear the people coming to run, they choose to split up
Hanna hears that the officers will shoot Erik on site, so gives herself up
Hanna gets taken away in a helicopter
