Jurassic World (2015) REVIEW 💎💎💎

Updated: Jun 24, 2020

(May Contain Spoilers)

I was introduced to Jurassic Park (1993) only a few years ago, I mean it is ALWAYS on ITV2 for some reason but I hadn’t actually sat and watched it because Dinosaurs aren’t something that gets my bloody pumping 😆! I did enjoy that other film, but more so because I know how nostalgic it is and considered a classic, so I was a bit apprehensive going into watching this as it’s a new film and a remake of the franchise trying to revive a classic.

Jurassic World is a continuation in the park saga but a modern version, so in the film they still acknowledge Jurassic Park but as that park didn’t work out, they built a new one and called it Jurassic World. The film begins when Zach (Nick Robinson) and Gray (Ty Simpkins) go to visit their Auntie Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) who works high up at the park. Claire gives her nephews wristbands to explore the park whilst she does some work. Claire speaks to some investors and informs them that they have made a new dinosaur hybrid and in order for experiments in creating new species to continue they need money.

The new dinosaur is in a massive cage, but the owner doesn’t think it is suitable enough so asks Claire to get Owen (Chris Pratt) in to have a look. Owen is like a dinosaur whisper as he has just trained the velociraptors. In the most iconic scene, a new employee falls into the cage and Owen rushes in after him and holds out his hand controlling the Raptors. Later, Owen goes to inspect the cage to find glass cracked and scratch marks on the side of the cage, they think the dinosaur has escaped so Claire runs back to base to tell them, however the dinosaur tricked them and in actual fact was able to go camouflage and stop its heat so it was detected, which then means that the dinosaur tricked them and then actually does escape.

The rest of the movie there onwards sees the battle between man and beast as the park begin to shutdown trapping visitors on the island until the next ferry with a dinosaur on the loose. Claire goes looking for her nephews who have a close encounter with the dino but manage to escape and find Claire. The raptors that Owen trained are let loose to capture and kill the escape dino but turns out it is part raptor so they turn on the employees, however Owen manages to get their trust back and they go on the attack. Many people get killed, there are a few times when people got lifted up into the hair by Pterodactyl’s, which was funny. In the end the big water dino jumps out the water and eats it, which begs the question why it hasn’t done that to kill people in the audience before!

I thought this film was quite good, there were some great action sequences in and involve CGI Dinosaurs but was not for me. I don’t think that I am the target audience for this film but can understand and appreciate why it is such a successful franchise. Action, Thrills and a whole lotta dinosaurs!

Available to stream on Netflix.
