Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) REVIEW - 💎💎💎💎

I had already watched Jurassic World (2015) the other day and you can click >>HERE<< to read that review, but I wasn’t a big fan of the film so you must think it was strange for me to watch the next one. Well, I was curious to see what they would do considering they would not be able to open up the park and I must say that I enjoyed this film much more than the first. I thought that the concept was different a stronger, the performances were more refined and was more entertaining.

The plot this time follows Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) as she tries to save the dinosaurs from going extinct on the island as a volcano is about to erupt and kill them all. Claire is invited to Benjamin Lockwood’s (James Cromwell) mansion as he began as a partner to the creator of Jurassic Park. Lockwood invites Claire to save the animals and move them to another island where they will be safe and can roam without any humans getting in the way. However, Eli (Rafe Spall), Lockwood’s intern turn business partner has other plans. Eli wants to sell and traffic these animals.

Claire invites Owen (Chris Pratt) on the trip with her to save the animals, which he does, and they rekindle their romantic flame. The most exciting part about going back to the island is that it is an abandoned theme park now over ran by the dinosaurs so there is more risk and more excitement. Claire helps Eli’s men get hold of the dinosaurs and Owen leads them straight to Blue, a trained velociraptor and they shot her but try to keep her alive and also leave Owen for dead. Meanwhile Claire and Franklin (Justice Smith) get trapped in the control room unable to open the doors or escape. In addition, the volcano has erupted for there are stampedes of dinosaurs, Owen trying to run for his life and Claire and Franklin trying to escape the control room.

Back to earth now and Eli is successful in transporting the dinosaurs back and puts on a black-market auction for these animals. Additionally, Eli introduces a new breed of dinosaur that they had been working on in the lab and of course that gets loose and tries to kill all the people. I don’t think this was necessary as that was the theme of the first film and the concept of selling the animals and escaping the volcano island was enough. Eli kills Lockwood as he is an old fragile man and Lockwood’s granddaughter Maisie (Isabella Sermon), manages to escape and find Claire and Owen who help her escape. Finally, all the animals are let loose but on earth so now there is a bigger problem thanks just on the island!

I did enjoy this film, but as I said I don’t think that the new breed of dinosaur was needed as the concept was entertaining enough as it was. I loved seeing Claire and Owen’s relationship blossom again. I thought the goodie/baddie storyline was a family friendly classic and Isabella Sermon’s performance as Maisie was exceptional! Entertaining, dinoriffic and packed full of action!

Stream the franchise now on Netflix.
